ABB E-mobility is the division of the ABB Group, counting 100000 employees worldwide, dedicated to electrifying mobility. With 1400+ employees, global headquarters in Switzerland and a state-of-the-art production facility in San Giovanni Valdarno (Arezzo), ABB E-mobility has built over 14 years of world firsts: from Europe’s first 50 kW charger to the world’s first live Truck Megawatt Charger. Their mission is unambiguous: electrify mobility with seamless, efficient, flexible, operated and sustainable charging solutions.
In a global supply chain like ABB E-mobility’s, the gap between what is planned and what is executed can be extremely costly. The problem is clear: Production & Sales forecasts are today disconnected from logistics execution, generating poor warehouse and logistics visibility, reactive management and a persistent difficulty in improving service levels.
This project has an ambitious objective: develop a data-driven model that translates production and sales forecasts into quantifiable logistics capacity requirements, enabling proactive management for the first time. The work unfolds in three phases: system mapping and data engineering, integrating ERP and WMS historical data, mathematical modelling with validation, back-testing and forecast error propagation analysis, and finally an optimization layer with sensitivity analysis and what-if simulation.
The key deliverables are a mathematical model capable of converting forecasts into monthly capacity requirements for each material flow, a scenario simulator and an operational KPI dashboard.
If you are comfortable with data, enjoy building models that become real operational tools and want to work on a problem that directly impacts the performance of a global company, this is your project.
