The study of people mobility is experiencing a strong moment of growth and change. New habits, solutions and modes of travelling to reach the final destination are being observed, making the process of demand estimation more and more complex.
This thesis aims to investigate and understand the factors (e.g., quality of service, price, …) that determine the choice of transport used, public or private, to make a trip, whether systematic or occasional.
A Systematic Literature Review is required to identify existing factors in the literature and a subsequent critical analysis to identify their main characteristics and to model them.
The output of this first phase will be used to conduct surveys with practitioners to understand their role in the demand estimation processes. As an added value, it will be possible to develop a simulation model where the identified factors will be tested.
