Today, the need for firms to innovate and reconfigure themselves is an unavoidable strategic imperative. Managing Open Innovation has become increasingly complex, especially in a continuously evolving business context and companies need to organize themselves for innovation to advantageously manage innovation initiatives. In this context, an emerging element to be studied and analyzed is governance, and how different governance mechanism can be applied or can impact the management of Open Innovation Initiatives considering a double perspective, the one of the providers and the one of the users.

The research project aims to investigate the governance mechanisms and configurations currently used by companies and providers to manage Open Innovation initiatives, to chart the needs for a more effective management and perform a gap analysis. The research will be developed through direct interviews and primary data analysis to collect insights from the players of the ecosystem, systematize them and draft the most effective Open Innovation governance models.
