AI organizational models and AI competencies
Background:
The digitalised new working environment will impact the nature of work, “creating new interactions not only between humans and machines, but also between digital and physical worlds” (Romero et al., 2016). Employing artificial intelligence (AI) in a quick and effective manner will be a competitive advantage in such environments (Brock & von Wangenheim, 2019). Understanding the competencies needed and organizational models the companies should have to approach an AI initiative is a fundamental issue nowadays.
Thesis goals:
The main goal of the thesis is to investigate existing organizational models and AI-related competencies the company has to possess to successfully run AI projects and evaluate organizational impact on the successful performance of AI projects. The research objectives could be the following:
- understanding the skills and capabilities necessary to approach AI initiatives
- explore existing organizational models of companies that are already implementing AI projects and related job positions
- create a roadmap of how to achieve the skills and capabilities required to make company grow towards the AI transformation
- evaluate the make or buy choices of acquiring the competencies needed
Applicants:
1 or 2 students are expected to work on the thesis (4-points thesis or 7-points dissertation)
